Cafeteria Nazi…

Okay so this morning I take my daughter to school, the first day after winter break.  I always go in with her & help her get her breakfast, she’s only 4 so she still needs help.  Well usually the kids go in & sit wherever they want right.  So this morning there is this woman (she’s not even a teacher just a person who works at the school, not that it matters I guess) but anyway she is barking orders at the kids.  She’s telling them that they have to come in and sit in the tables front to back and fill up the chairs, so they don’t get to pick where they sit or sit with their friends.  And then when the kids are sitting there eating she is telling them that they can’t talk just eat & get out.  And as the cafeteria fills up it’s kinda hard for the kids to tell where they are supposed to sit, because they are trying to find a seat, while this woman is barking at them to just sit here where there’s an empty chair.  And this one boy walks by and she tells him to sit, but he doesn’t he keeps walking, so she grabs his arm and is all like “I told you to sit here and you’re gonna listen to me!” as she is pulling him back to the seat she wanted him in!  I am looking around at the other adults in the room a few parents also helping their young children and they are all looking down like they’re afraid she will start barking orders at them too.  And a few teachers whom always work cafeteria duty and at first they are kinda like “what the heck” until she barks at them that if they make the students sit and eat then breakfast will go much smoother.  Now just let me say that I have been helping my daughter get her breakfast the entire year and I really don’t feel that the cafeteria is in that much of an uproar that we need a cafeteria nazi.  I mean sure there are kids talking and laughing and sometimes it’s hard to find a seat if you get in there late but hey that’s kinda the whole school experience right?  I mean when you’re in elementary school your socializing pretty much revolves around breakfast, lunch and the playground.  I mean what’s the harm in letting the kids sit with their friends and talk??
