tre’s taos walker!

so we picked up tre’s taos walker last wednesday…if you don’t know what this is there is a you-tube video about them.  they are really great & are designed especially to help kids with cp walk.  well anyway we picked it up on last wed. which was a long appt. so that they could get everything adjusted for him & everything. (thankyou! dr. vautrin! if you are in the dfw area i highly recommend synergy orthotics in plano, we see dr. vautrin & he is wonderful! he always gets us everything we need & his office is very on top of things!) well tre was very cranky when we were doing the adjustments, he hadn’t had a nap after school (big problem) & then he was in his afo’s for like 3hrs. straight (which he can handle but doesnt like especially when he can’t just move around & do his own thing. since he was being fitted to his orthotic we were like holding him down to get it all adjusted to the right lengths & everything) & then by the time we got him standing in it, he pretty much refused to take any steps at all! i felt bad for the dr. because he was like “yea, you know when you are ordering these things you expect to just put them in it & see them take off!” but of course it rarely happens like that! just like any equipment he needs to learn how to use it & get used to it & then i’m sure it will be very effective & wonderful.

so yesterday we took it to p.t. with us, & he did take some steps, mostly with his right foot, but that is progress…i cant wait to see him using it on his own! it will be so great for him to gain some independence!
